About Us
We are amateur golfers who come together every other week to compete, connect and elevate our games.
The AnteUp Tour was established in 2010, when four close friends—Corey, Trevor, James, and Jonathon—began playing a sport that, for most of them, was entirely new. While Trevor had played golf in high school, nearly a decade had passed since he last picked up a club.
After spending countless hours practicing at local ranges, including Sleepy Hollow, the “Free” course, and the Backyard Range, the group decided to test their skills on a regulation course. Their first regular venue was Bright Grandview, widely recognized as the course bordered by the tire-lined fence used for winter sledding.
As time went on, the repetition of playing the same course began to diminish the overall experience. Although the game itself remained enjoyable, the lack of variety prompted Corey to propose a new concept: playing a different course every other week, on a consistent day, with organized tee times.
Trevor, James, and Jonathon readily supported the idea. The group gradually expanded as friends invited additional participants, resulting in a diverse field of players representing a wide range of skill levels. Early on, challenges arose with informal stroke adjustments between players, which led to inconsistent and often undesirable results.
To address this, the group adopted the United States Golf Association’s handicap system, utilizing a standardized handicap index to calculate course handicaps. This change ensured fair competition and laid the foundation for what would become the structured format of the AnteUp Tour.
The rest is history—one that continues to evolve.
